After a nice morning, we decided to enjoy the great weather with a picnic lunch in the yard while we awaited the arrival of Gram Lamb and Papa Rex.
I think you'll be seeing a lot of the giant blue hat this summer - luckily he doesn't seem to mind it.
We had a great visit with Gram and Papa Rex. My dad hadn't seen Charlie since Christmas, and was really excited to see how far he has come in the last few months. Charlie showed off lots of new skills, including how much he likes to eat! Here he is at dinner, impersonating Bugs Bunny in celebration of Easter:
Saturday was the least nice day of the weekend, unfortunately, so we spent most of the day in doors avoiding the rain. George made us homemade soup, mom taught me to knit (I recently started my scarf over for the 7th time - but it's finally coming along!) and we all kept Charlie very entertained.
This morning, my parents hit the road early to get back in time for a golf game. As they packed up to leave, they pointed out that the Easter Bunny had visited and left a couple of eggs in our front garden. What nice neighbors we have to leave us treats!
My sweet husband bought me geraniums and petunias for Easter, to compliment the tulips, daffodils, and pansies currently in bloom. We've spent most of the afternoon in the front yard, planting and getting things in order. Charlie was kind enough to pose with the garden in the background:
In the most exciting news of the week, Charlie has learned to move forward! He still doesn't crawl, but has figured out how to turn his dancing moves into a scooting motion that allows him to slide across the floor. Check it out:

I learned (on TV, not in my five plus years studying child development!) that there are something like 20 accepted crawling postures. Maybe scooting is Charlie's. Actually, one of college professors never crawled on hands and knees, he scooted on his bottom. (If I recall, his mom put a pizza pan under is bum to make him more slippery!)
