Conversational

Charlie still isn't speaking in multi-word sentences, but suddenly he's rattling off contextually-appropriate words/phrases on a regular basis, which is so fun. And he's starting to pick up some funny mixed-up phrases too. Here are some examples of the things he's picked up recently:

When he wants his chair moved closer to the table, he says, "scoot scoot scoot" until I realize what he wants.

He's started climbing up on stools, his riding toys, etc and saying, "tall, big, tall, big" about himself.

When he's leaving or putting something away, he says, "Bye-bye Legos/tubby/whatever. See you back." I'm assuming that's a combo of see you later and be right back, both of which we say a lot - but I really hope he sticks with "See you back" for a while. So cute.

He calls computers, "peekers". I had to do some work when I got home the other night, and he wanted my attention, so he said "Bye-bye peeker" and closed the laptop. That definitely got my attention!  He also says "workin' workin'" when I'm on the computer. He has the cutest way of not pronouncing the 'g' of 'ing' words, like a southern boy.

When he wants something I have, he says "hold it, hold it". He's also started to say "I get it, I get it" when he drops something. Sometimes he really means he's going to get it, but more often that means I'm supposed to get it for him.

He LOVES numbers and gets really excited about telling me which ones he sees. George gave him an old 2008 desk calendar that was left at his office, and it's like Charlie's dream - he points out all the numbers and reads them. He can now count to 20 on his own, though he leaves out 15 pretty much every time and thirteen and fourteen sound basically exactly the same. Still, I find it pretty impressive.

He says, "me too" a lot, not exactly correctly. When he's excited about something, I'll say, Do you love it? and he'll say "Yeah!" in an excited little voice. If I say Yeah? or You do?, his answer is "Me too".

After work a couple of times a week, I exercise to different Fit TV programs - they have tons of free workout videos that are a great resource for someone like me that can't get to the gym regularly. There are usually several good yoga programs, and Charlie likes to watch and sometimes participate in "yogur". He now asks for "yogur" often after work, and he knows how to do down dog. He also likes to carry around my little 5 lb weights and say, "heavy, heavy". I just hope he doesn't drop them on his own feet or mine.

I can't really express in words how wonderful it is to hear his little voice all the time now after waiting so long for it. So sweet!
