Our boy was discharged around 7 p.m. last night, luckily after the huge thunderstorm George and I got caught in on the way over.
One over our favorite nurses, Ladee, had Charlie for his last day and went through all the check-out paperwork with us, and then we said our good-byes! (See photo below of Charlie with some of his favorite nurses). We will miss the nurses so much - in the last 2 and a half months, many of them have become good friends, and we can't thank them enough for all they have done for us.
Here we are at home last night, beginning the next stage of our adventure. We're all smiles here because this was before the crying jag that lasted from 12:30 a.m. (bedtime) until almost 3 a.m. (next feeding). It wasn't nonstop, but frequent enough that I finally took him back out of the crib and into the living room, and gave up on that shift of sleep. Luckily he slept from 3:45 to 5:45, so at least we're not completely deprived.
We have a pediatrician appointment in about 2 hours, so that will be our adventure of the day - can mom and dad get showered, get a diaper bag packed, and get Charlie dressed and out of the house in the next hour and a half?

Marie, I am so happy for you and your husband. Little Charlie is finally home! You have no idea of how encouraging your journey has been for me and my family as we are now on the same journey. Thank you for the blog idea too. It was so comforting to go there everyday and see someone I know who is going through the same thing but more importantly, getting through each day. We created one for our daughter and everyone loves it. I am so thankful that you have your Charlie at home. I look forward to that moment myself...soon. Take care!

Congrats to the whole family! Charlie definitely looks a lot bigger in the photo with Mommy. Look out world...here comes Charlie.
CONGRATULATIONS! Charlie looks positively pudgy in mom's arms. Hard to believe he's the same baby we saw early on in the hospital. Now the real fun begins...and no matter what you think at 3 am, you'll survive it all, even with no sleep!
We can't wait to see you!
Claire
