In the open crib
Charlie has been in an open crib since yesterday, and is holding his temperature well. He's also still breathing on his own, although tonight he scared us with a big episode. The nurse had just given him one of his meds orally and he decided to suck it right up and then not breathe for a minute or two! The nurses took it all in stride, of course, but we were kind of freaked out. But after that he got back to normal, and we enjoyed holding him for a while before tucking him back in for the night. He no longer has a feeding tube in his mouth - they've moved it to his nose so he can get a better seal on the bottle through his mouth. He's getting food orally every other feeding now, which is great. All in all, he's still working hard and impressing us. Tonight Christina and Angenine were both marveling at how much he's accomplished since they saw him last, just last week. He's also still growing - as of tonight, he's 4 pounds, 10 ounces!

I love the 4th pic where you can see his face more clearly and without so many tubes and tape! He really precious! I can't believe all the great strides he's making! What a trooper he is. Yea for Charlie!!

The news gets better and better. And the pictures are wonderful. We can finally see "the real Charlie"! He looks so big compared with those early pix. I agree that Charlie is one impressive dude! And I'm sure he's getting eager to get home, too!
Much love,
Claire
Way to go Charlie! You are sooooo cute!
This is all very good news! I'm so happy for all three of you!
