Charlie made me a Mother's Day card - his nurse, Sue, inked his hands and gave me a card with his handprints in it. I love it! And my husband is upstairs busily cooking me dinner, so I feel pretty spoiled! It would only be better if Charlie was home with us, but that time will come.
Charlie's breathing is still doing great - he's had pretty much a whole week at room air rate, which is wonderful. He's eating again, in much smaller doses than he was before, but they'll keep increasing his food as long as he tolerates it. So far, so good.
Charlie was wearing his clothes for the first time today! He's in a cute little t-shirt with ducks all over it in the photo below. Dear friends of our family, the Kennedys, sent Charlie a bunch of sweet preemie outfits. As you can imagine, it's not so easy to find clothes that fit babies this little, but Mrs. Kennedy found teeny tiny ones for babies 3 to 5 pounds, so he can wear them already!
George and I are still hanging in there. This week I was back at work, which made the days fly by. Everyone has been so great at my office, particularly my boss, who is super understanding about what we're going through and very supportive. I'm able to get away during the day to spend an hour with Charlie, and then I work a little later than usual but get back to the hospital by 7:30 when the nurses shift change is over, and George and I spend an hour and a half or so with Charlie before we head home for dinner and bed. George's wonderful co-workers (past and present) have continued to provide us lots of food during the week, so we just have to quickly re-heat when we get home from the hospital - so nice! There would not be any cooking going on at 9:30 or 10 at night, so it's so great not to have to worry about it!
Here are some other pics from our weekend time with Charlie:

Happy Mother's Day Marie! Charlie is so cute with his ducky clothes and already looks stronger at over 3lbs! Hopefully, not before too long, you will be able to have your cute lil guy at home with you!

Happy late Mother's Day Marie!! I know that card must be so precious with his little prints!! I'm so happy Charlie is slowly but surely gaining weight and is breathing better. Those are WONDERFUL Mother's Day gifts! It was great to see Katie and her pregnant belly at my Shower yesterday! Charlie's going to have a cousin before we know it!

Marie and George,
What wonderful pictures of all three of you! It must have been a very, very special Mother's Day! And I'm sure if they had let him Charlie would have sung you a song and danced you a dance to say "thanks, Mom" for all you've done!
We're thinking of you and hope to see you all soon!
Much love,
Claire and Tom
Hi you three. Your mom is standing over my shoulder as I write this. She came over this afternoon to visit my mom, Auntie Marion. She showed me how to get the updates on Charlie. He is such a cute baby. You both must be so proud. I am more excited now that I can get to see pictures of Charlie to now go along with all the wonderful updates. You are all in our prayers. Love, Linda, Joe, Keri, Joey and Eric.
