Take me out to the ball game...

First things first, Charlie did NOT have his developmental appointment this week; Children's rescheduled on us, so we'll be going next Wed morning. Sorry family - we appreciate that everyone checked in to see how it went, though!

We had a great night last night - Charlie attended his first baseball game! The Harris family gave us an adorable baseball outfit, so we were so excited Charlie could sport it at Nationals field! The doctor is still warning us away from enclosed spaces with lots of people (malls, grocery stores, etc) but we figured since we had seats outside and the team is TERRIBLE (meaning it wouldn't be packed) we could do it. We're so glad we did - we had a great time, and Charlie slept through most of it and cheered the rest of the time (or yelled, but amidst the crowd noise nobody noticed!) Here are some shots from the game - it was a beautiful night to be out!

Baseball outfit front...
Baseball outfit back!
Sacked out within 5 minutes... Awake for the 7th inning stretch and singing - he was ready, since I'd been singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" all afternoon to prep him...
Bundled in his hoodie sweater and hat...
Chowing down in the stands (not exactly a hot dog or peanuts, but he didn't seem to mind...) Sacked out again... The beautiful moon framed by the scoreboard...
It didn't even matter that our team got smoked - we had a blast!

Tonight after work, Charlie and I went for a long walk through our neighborhood, which was great - we're loving fall! We even had the sun hat on in the beginning, since there was still a little sun left. Look, it finally fits!
Showing off his cute french onesie from our friends Anne and Noah and Charlie's future summer love Ella...
And loving his jungle playmat from the Kennerlys:
He's just started to interact more with his toys, and he has 2 play mats (one jungle, one ocean themed) that he's fascinated by. He talks to the octopus hanging from the ocean one - it's pretty funny.

I think (fingers crossed!!) we may have found someone to come help with Charlie some during the week - I spoke with a possible candidate today who sounds perfect! She is a student who can spare 12 hours a week and was a nanny previously with glowing references. We're meeting in person on Monday, so hopefully Charlie and I will love her and she'll join us three days a week to give me some good, focused work time - and Charlie will get more attention during the days. He deserves lots of interaction, and I hate that I'm not always able to give it to him, so hopefully this will be the answer to our prayers!

Hi Charlie,

You are one lucky boy, and may I also say handsome. Your parents understand the true meaning of happiness - perhaps through you. They see the bigger picture. No, their baseball team didn't win but they were so excited just to have YOU there with them. Your Mom notices the beauty in things many of us would most likely miss "the beautiful moon framed by the scoreboard" and that your sun hat finally fits. It's been fun to see your progress. Thanks for sharing your story.

Blessings,
Heidi Stefanchik (Britt's Mom)

My, my. It's hard to believe this is the same little guy we first met in the GW Hospital NICU back in March! Keep it up, Charlie (and Marie and George!). Thanks for sharing all the encouraging news!

Love ya,
Claire
