Fun with Nana, and 2 Year Photos

Nana was here this weekend, and Charlie was very excited to see her! Check them out as they play at breakfast:

We enjoyed having her as well. We got TONS done thanks to her help (gardening and weeding and mowing and errands - having another adult around really makes a difference!) AND she gave us a date night out on Sat night! So nice!

Before Nana arrived, on Friday morning, we had a meeting with a teacher from the school Charlie will attend in the fall. She came for a home visit, to observe him and talk about his needs. She was great, and really encouraging, and she fell in love with our little guy (not that I can blame her). We spend a lot of time talking about the things he isn't doing, so it was nice to hear her say that she thought he was on the right track and making good progress.

Speaking of progress, after quite a long time of not making many noises, he's now babbling and "talking" a lot. I hope that means he'll be speaking some actual, understandable words soon. He still says "hi" on occasion, but he doesn't say "owl" anymore, and he hasn't added anything new to his spoken repertoire. His sign language is a little broader; he can sign food, milk, more, please, thank you, and all done, so he can communicate his basic needs to us, but I'm really hoping he'll either learn more signs or start speaking soon. He's frustrated sometimes, and hopefully that's giving him the push he needs to work on some words. He is so close!

Shortly after his second birthday, we scheduled a photo session with our friend Michelle. She took his baby pictures when he was a few months old, and we arranged to have another session with her this spring. Charlie was being shy and clingy, and stayed in my arms a lot of the session - but she managed to work with that and get lots of great shots. I love them! I've included a few of our favorites. If you're in this area and interested in getting some professional photos made, you should definitely check out her site: www.michelleegorinphotography.com.
