First off, thank you all for the birthday wishes for Charlie!! Between cards and email and the blog and Facebook, he's felt honored and spoiled, as have his mom and dad. It means so much that so many people are as proud of his accomplishments as we are. Thanks for your support, and for keeping up with him here!
Like most (all?) moms, I happen to find a large percentage of what Charlie does adorable. He has a variety of bad or annoying habits, as I alluded to in a previous post, but he's so charming and loveable that I can't hold those things against him! Tonight, while his daddy has been enjoying a well-deserved night out with some great friends, I've been following Charlie around with a camera. Don't worry, he's used to it. I took a few quick videos of him because I think the still photos don't do him justice. They just don't capture his sense of humor, let alone his flirtatiousness. And the noises. He has SO many noises.
So here's a video snapshot of our evening - mundane, yes, but still entertaining and adorable (in a biased mom's eyes).
A funny note on the noises - he sees a speech therapist, and when she arrives, he promptly clams up. I think she must think I'm delusional, as I try to imitate for her the noises I hear from him, while he sits silently, smirking at me. Apparently her appointments with Pamela aren't any better - Pamela told me she worries that the speech therapist doesn't believe her! Our speech therapist is wonderful and sweet (one example - yesterday's session, one day after Charlie's birthday, was all birthday-themed, with party hats and a wooden cake and an actual present she bought for Charlie!) and I don't think she believes we're lying to her, but I think she might be wondering if we're really hearing what we are! I may have to make some video for her as well!
Thanks also to all of you for your wonderful donations to our March for Babies team! We have a month of fund-raising time to go, and I'm more than halfway to my goal already. Your generosity is so appreciated!

In my experience, kids tend to KNOW what we're there to work on! At school we always laugh about how our little ones talk with the Occupational Therapist, but not me and stand independently for me, but not the Physical Therapist!
Oh, what a great movie! I am so excited to meet him next month!!
