We got up early on Sat to pack the car, and Charlie managed to get a few minutes of free time in just his diaper, which he loves.

Charlie didn't mind the car trip too much.
And once we arrived, he had a great time! Nana fed him homemade chicken noodle soup, Trader Joe's version of cheetos (if you haven't tried them, you should! Yum - just as good as the real thing, less fat, and your fingers aren't stained bright orange after!) and vanilla ice cream. She read to him, played with him, and gave us the wonderful treat of keeping Charlie in the evening so George and I could have a night out, just the two of us!

Thanks to Uncle Tom, we enjoyed dinner at a delicious restaurant called The Pub and Kitchen.

On Sunday, we enjoyed the nice weather and got to visit with Uncle Tom, which was lots of fun. It was a quick but very nice trip - thanks Nana!
Charlie is so happy right now! He thinks everything is funny, and he likes to wrestle and be tickled. He gives lots of kisses these days - to us, to his stuffed animals, and to the pictures in his book, often completely unprompted. He's getting tons of teeth at the moment. I reached my hand in his mouth tonight and felt 2 molars poking through on top, two on the bottom, and another top front tooth that has almost grown in. Right now he has three top teeth in front, so he's got the Halloween jack-o-lantern mouth going. So cute!
So far, this is my favorite age/stage - not sure if I can really say favorite "age" since he's behind the normal 19 monther, but whatever age he is supposed to be, I like it! I love how much he's moving, how much he pulls up and tries to walk, how much he laughs. I sit on the floor with him when I get home in the evening, and he likes to crawl over and pull up on the couch so he's eye to eye with me, and then he just grins and makes faces. He often also grabs my glasses, which is not so fun - we're still working on 'NO'. If I say it sternly enough, he'll take note, and often he wrinkles up his nose and opens his mouth really wide and just yells. I'm imagining that this may turn into face-down, kicking and screaming, fit throwing in a couple years, if this drama continues. I want to appreciate his theatrical nature, but MAN the kid is stubborn!
But most of all, he's just a love and a joy to be around. I know I say it often, but once again, we are so lucky!
Speaking of love and joy, my good friends Molly and John are now experiencing parental love the first time, as their baby girl was born a little over a week ago. Congrats Molly and John, and welcome to beautiful baby Julia!

I can't believe how big he is! What a smiley guy. Marie is smiley these days too - particularly when I say NO. She think that is hilarious. I can't wait to feel better so we can get together. Hugs and kisses to all three of you. -Carrie
